Sloppy Joes for School Nights

Serves: 4-6 - Cooking Method: Crockpot - Total Time: 4-8 hours


Sloppy Joes recipe for those school nights when you want a satisfying meal the whole family will love. Ground beef hamburger meat or ground turkey simmers in your crockpot with onions, peppers, garlic, and your seasonings (not from a packet and low in sodium too!) Can be served on hamburger rolls or onion topped kaiser rolls.

Ingredients:

Ground beef or turkey hamburger meat, up to 17% fat - 1 1/2 lbs
Onion, diced – 1 cup
Garlic – 2 tsp
Ketchup – 1 cup
Bell Pepper, seeded and diced – ½ cup
Worcestershire Sauce – 3 Tbsp
Brown Sugar – 3 Tbsp
Mustard – 2 Tbsp
Cider Vinegar – 2 Tbsp
Chili Powder – 1 ½ tsp
Hamburger or Onion Topped Kaiser Rolls - 6

Directions:

1. Place all ingredients in your crockpot, and mix thoroughly. Set crockpot on low for 7-9 hours or High for 5 hours.

2. Assemble sloppy joe sandwiches and serve.
